Docked at a prison space port during a riot, an assassin with an holographic face and a prison tattoo boards RACHEL WATERS’s freighter, intent to collect the remaining Gemini ticks, nanocomps capable of changing a man’s identity, from the black-market gang who’d lifted them from top-secret Alliance labs. RACHEL is never sure exactly whom JACK is nor his true goal, though she’s sure he’s not whom he initially claims to be. Her father, the admiral, tells RACHEL supercop JACK Luminous is dead, and even JACK admits ... he’s not JACK LUMINOUS.

When RACHEL learns the Imperial Marshal will trade the lives of innocents to get his man, she determines she’ll make JACK grow a heart. How could the cop hand over children to a monster planning genocide?

JACK LUMINOUS has done five years in prison to learn who’d stolen the remaining ticks, and he’ll let nothing stop him from gaining the little deceit machines, preventing the weapons from causing mass chaos on a galactic level ... and killing the man responsible for the massacre of JACK’s childhood home.

No matter what the I-Marshal feels for RACHEL, JACK knows he must return to the Alliance and execute the man responsible for the security leak at the Alliance labs, RACHEL’s own father. JACK knows better than to fall in love with the admiral’s daughter.
