A YA Novelette (ages 14 & up)
Fifteen-year old Sarah McKenzie has suffered the loss of her parents. Soon after, she meets, Poppie, a friendly, though, less than traditional angel. He’s a vagabond-type who reads comic books and totes around a garbage bag that supplies the particular needs of whatever soul the angel might meet.
To soothe Sarah, Poppie offers her three wishes to go any place she desires, which includes a camping trip to Maryland’s noted Assatague Island to find the famous ponies, as well as a stomach-wrenching flight in a prop plane to experience a star-like view from the clouds—adventures, both of which, Poppie struggles to endure.
Eventually, Sarah understands the quirky angel means to deliver her back home. Only, her not-too-friendly aunt's stuffy apartment, Sarah learns in the end, isn’t the home that Poppie has in mind.
No, what Poppie needed to do was to deliver Sarah McKenzie to her real home—and the sooner the better for his sake.
Heaven only knows . . . Poppie was doing the best that he could!
